About Us
True North Silver & Stone is rooted in family legacy and dedication. What began in 2016 as a mother’s devotion to the bench became a shared family language. We learned the art of silversmithing from the ground up, discovering that mastery is not found in haste, but in the steady repetition of the work and a deep respect for the materials.
In 2024, following a season of profound change and reflection, we merged our family shops to form True North. Operating from our home in Idaho, we carry forward a tradition defined by balance, restraint, and discipline. Over the years, our journey has been marked by different names and maker’s marks—including CCJ North—but every piece has always been crafted by our hands. Our process is intentional; we source every stone directly from the miner, selecting only natural, high-grade specimens that possess their own quiet history. We do not simply make jewelry; we preserve a craft.
We believe that a stone should be honored for exactly what it is. By sourcing directly from the miner and selecting only natural, high-grade stones, we practice a philosophy of restraint. We do not overwork the design; we allow the integrity of the silver and the raw character of the earth to speak. The result is a cherished heirloom—a grounded piece of art intended to outlive its maker and be held by generations to come.
Cheryl, Silversmith & Owner - My path as a silversmith began in 2018, under the mentorship of my mother, Joyce. What began as a deep appreciation for the stone soon evolved into a devotion to the craft. I had been “bitten by the turquoise bug”. As my mom’s business grew, I stepped into the role of designer and maker, finding joy in both the complexity of a bold statement piece and the quiet elegance of a petite design. Regardless of scale, my mindset remains the same: honoring the time required to do things well and the restraint required to let the stone speak for itself.
Beyond the bench, my life is defined by a different kind of precision. As a follower of Jesus, a wife, a mother, and an X-ray technologist, I have come to see balance as a craft in itself. Whether navigating the technical demands of healthcare or the creative discipline of the studio, I have come to see balance not as a state of rest, but as a practice of intentionality and grace.
Preston, Silversmith & Owner - My Introduction to the bench was in 2021. It began with a quiet curiosity and desire to support the craft my wife and mother-in-law had built. What started as an act of service has evolved into a dedicated discipline. Over the years, I have worked to refine my skill, finding a deep, grounded satisfaction in the rhythm of the work.
When I’m away from silversmithing and my full time job, you can find me exploring the Idaho outdoors. Whether I’m fishing or hiking with our dogs, time spent outdoors reinforces the values of patience and presence.
I embrace the responsibility of caring for our family’s silversmith standards, focusing on the structural integrity and timelessness that handmade work demands. My intent is to create heirloom pieces that carry a sense of weight and history—items built with the patience to endure and the quality to be passed down as cherished legacies.
